All About Concussions & Surviving the Boredom
Hai guys! Sorry for being inactive all week! I have had a concussion and still do... so I only get a few minutes on the computer but it is enough time to tip! So here we go :)

♥ALL ABOUT CONCUSSIONS
A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury, or TBI, caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head that can change the way your brain normally works. Concussions can also occur from a blow to the body that causes the head to move rapidly back and forth. Even a “ding,” “getting your bell rung,” or what seems to be mild bump or blow to the head can be serious.

Symptoms include:
• Appears dazed or stunned
• Is confused about assignment or position
• Forgets an instruction
• Is unsure of game, score, or opponent
• Moves clumsily
• Answers questions slowly
• Loses consciousness (even briefly)
• Shows mood, behavior, or personality changes
• Can’t recall events prior to hit or fall
• Can’t recall events after hit or fall
• Headache or “pressure” in head
• Nausea or vomiting
• Balance problems or dizziness
• Double or blurry vision
• Sensitivity to light
• Sensitivity to noise
• Feeling sluggish, hazy, foggy, or groggy
• Concentration or memory problems
• Confusion
• Does not “feel right” or is “feeling down”

Any questions? Ask in the comments!

♥SURVIVING THE BOREDOM
Okay, this was awful. I wasn't allowed to do ANYTHING. I just had to sit or lay down all day. But I did have some activities that I liked to do :)

Activities I liked!
OUTDOOR:
~Plant flowers or trees
~Gardening
~Picnic
~Fly a kite
~Collect shells, autumn leaves, interesting stones, or anything
~Just sitting outside, listening to the birds and tanning!
~Take a walk WITH SOMEONE ELSE IN CASE OF FALL!

INDOOR:
~NAPPING! I napped so much. Concussions are exhausting.
~Baking
~Repetitive Crafts (don't require much thought)
~Watching fish in a tank or aquarium
~Talk with friends
~Photography
~Relax in a bubble bath
~Listening to books on cd or stories on the internet
~Painting a room

Well, I hope that helps! I'm getting a headache so i have to stop... REMEMBER, IF YOU HAVE A CONCUSSION, AVOID TV AND THE COMPUTER. THAT MEANS NO TEXTING, INSTAGRAMMING, TUMBLR USE, TWEETING, FACEBOOKING, VINING, LINE USE, OOVOOING, AND POLYVORE. IF YOU HAVE A CONCUSSION, GET OFF THE COMPUTER RIGHT NOW. STOP READING IT MAKES IT WORSE! LEAVEEEEE!

Love yaaaaaa,
Shannon

How To Throw An End Of The School Year Party
So basically the end of the year is only a few weeks to a month away for people in school. Which is coming up soon! And what better way to celebrate the end of the school year? A end of the school year party of course! So here are some tips on how to have a successful end of the school year party.

+ O1. PLAN AHEAD;
It's always good to plan ahead so you can figure out everything ahead and figure out what you want to do. If you wait last minute the party most likely won't be that fun or successful. Plan at least a few weeks ahead.

+ O2. SET A DATE AND TIME;
Usually it's best to plan the part for a Friday or Saturday night so most people are available. But always stick to a date to avoid confusion.

+ O3. PLAN SOMEWHERE;
Make sure you have the party in a big open place so there's plenty of room and it won't end up being crowded. The bigger the area is the more people you can invite which means the funner the party will be!

+ O4. CHOOSE A THEME;
Make sure the theme isn't too outside of the box. Keep it simple. Some ideas are Summer, Prep, Bonfire, Beach, Pool, ect.

+ O5. MAKE A GROCERY LIST;
Make a list of some food and drinks you would like at the party. Choose common foods that everybody will enjoy. Some things you should defiantly have are Chips and dip, Burgers, Coke, Fanta, Ice Cream, and Pizza.

+ O6. DECORATIONS;
Pick out some decorations to spread around. Don't overdue it though. Some nice touches are streamers for outdoors and if you're having it indoors a disco ball and color lights are a must.

+ O7. WHO COMES;
Make a list on who you want to come. Some people decide to just let everybody come. You can do this but if you do you're at a risk of having an overcrowded place. So only do this if you have a HUGE place set up.

+ O8. GET A DJ {optional}
If you really want to impress people hire a DJ. Then people can request their own songs too and the part would be even more of a blast. If it's indoors set up colored and strobe lights and have it be in the dark!

O9. HAVE FUN!
Don't be stressed out about it. The point of the party is to celebrate and have a good time. Just enjoy yourself!

GETTING LONG HAIR

Two days ago - 390 views
GETTING LONG HAIR
Hey guys!(:

I have shoulder length hair and I'm dying for it to grow longer! So I found some tips that can help make your hair grow longer.

O1. Here is extremely great and efficient hair mask, which will not only help to grow your hair faster, but also will make them look shiny, healthy and beautiful. Mix in a small bowl: 1 egg’s yolk’s, 1 table spoon of honey, 1 table spoon of extra virgin olive oil (or linen oil) and 1 table spoons of vodka (or cognac). Massage this mixture into the roots of your hair, spread to the lengths and wait for 40 minutes. (For better results you can put plastic hat on your head and cover it with towel, but make sure that your special someone doesn’t see you wearing this extravagant “construction” on your head ). Then wash your hair, as usual. You will be astonished with amazing results!

O2. Eat protein to make your hair grow faster. Not only exterior efforts, massages and masks count when you want to have thick and beautiful hair. Very important thing is what you eat. Did you know that food can make a tremendous difference in how fast your hair grows? Protein provides building material for your hair to grow faster and to be stronger, so include eggs, nuts, fish, chicken, red meats, etc. into your balanced diet. Your hair will say “thank you”.

O3. Brush your hair every day for 2 minutes every morning and every evening to stimulate circulation in your scalp. (Massage gently, it’s not working by the principle “the harder you push the faster it grows”!). Remember never to brush your hair while it’s wet, because it can cause breakage. We don’t want it because we love our hair, right?

O4. Massage your scalp every time you shampoo your hair. Do it gently with your fingers for about a minute, push and move the skin around your head, it will stimulate the blood flow and help your hair grow faster.

O5. Here is another simple mask that will help your hair to grow faster: for this treatment you will need potato juice! Yes, i know, it sounds strange, but it works! At least potato juice smells better than onion juice! (Onion juice is great for hair shine and hair growth, but it smells horrible, and this smell won’t go anywhere for weeks! This is why I don’t advice you to use onion juice for the growth of your hair, nor for any hear treatment!). So, how to make our potato mask: juice 2 big potatoes, add 1 table spoon of honey and 1 egg’s yolk.
Apply this mixture on your hair (mainly on the roots), wait for half an hour and wash your hair, as usual. This hair mask is amazing and all natural!

O6. Healthy and long hair starts with healthy scalp, it’s logical right? This is why it’s important to treat your scalp well! Here is one easy tip: never apply hair conditioner on the roots of your hair! Not only it will cause hair to lose volume and get oily very quickly, but also some conditioners can contain “waxes” and silicones, which, if you apply them on your scalp, can prevent the skin of the head from breathing and clog pores. Only apply conditioner on the mid-length and the ends of your hair.

O7. To make your hair grow faster – massage your scalp with warm oil.
It’s a very easy trick, but it works wonders! Just heat up a little bit of oil (my preferred oils are: linen oil, olive oil, coconut oil, argan oil and jojoba oil), never boil the oil, heat it up just a tiny bit, so that it’s pleasantly warm to touch and then, massage your scalp with it. If you have a friend or, better, “lover”, this can become even more pleasant. Ask them to massage your head, gently going through the roots of your hair in circular motions. This massage can last from about 20 minutes, then spread the oil on the length of your hair, wait for half an hour and wash your hair thoroughly. Not only this experience is very relaxing, but also, you will love the result. This treatment works wonders for the growth of the hair and makes them look very shiny and healthy.

O8. Care for your hair while you sleep. Probably you are wondering how in the world is it possible to care for my hair while I sleep? Yes, it’s actually possible. First of all, never sleep with a tight ponytail or a tight braid, it definitely won’t help your hair to grow faster and can even cause breakage of the hair and pains in your scalp. Make a loose ponytail instead. And second tip of “night hair care” is – sleep on silk pillow cover, it won’t cause friction and it’s much kinder to your hair than cotton pillow covers. And by the way, not only it’s beneficial for your hair, but also for your skin. So, what a wonder is this silk! Strong and shiny hair plus wrinkles free skin! Perfect!

O9. Q: How to make your hair grow faster? A: Castor oil – amazing hair treatment. It’s all simple: just massage your scalp with castor oil and leave it overnight, then, the next morning wash and condition your hair as usual. Do this treatment once or twice a week for couple of weeks and you will be astonished by the result! It works wonders for hair growth! Also, castor oil can help you to grow longer lashes and thicker eyebrows!

1O. Vinegar rinse. Note only vinegar can help to boost your hair growth, but also it can tremendously change the way your hair looks – of course, for better – shinier, stronger and healthier! Mix 1 part of vinegar with 3 parts of water and rinse your hair with this “self made healthy conditioner”, as the final step in the process of hair wash. If you are afraid of vinegar’s odour – add couple of drops of your favourite essential oil. Great and simple, all natural, but most importantly – it works!

Hope this helped.<3

Dealing with The Dentist

Dealing with The Dentist
Hey guys! Shannon here with a tip on... the dentist! Okay, so this was requested by some with the username of @teenage-tippers! Here we go :)

#ManUp
Since polyvore lets you use hashtags now, I will :) Okay, so you need to man up! Like seriously! No offense but it isn't a huge deal. Calm down, take a couple deep breaths and go get your teeth clean. The dentist is to help you so go and get help!

#FindTheRightDoctor
I love my dentist! He is so nice and funny and NOT SCARY! You want to find a nice dentist that you feel comfortable with. If your dentist is old, smells weird, or is just overall mean, then clearly you won't like going to the dentist. Your mind will associate a bad dental worker to the dentist so therefore you will think the dentist is bad. Find a great doctor who can help your teeth!

#MakeItFun
after the dentist I always go shopping! It is something to look forward to after the dentist. This way, I can make going to the dentist a good thing :) You can try playing a sport, going to a friend's house, walking your dog, etc. Just give yourself something to look forward to!

that's all I got! I hope this helps :)

Love yaaa,
Shannon

Dealing With Depression

8 days ago - 377 views
Dealing With Depression
I know how hard it can be with Depression. You can feel so alone, sad, and sometimes even worthless. I myself, have Manic Depression. And it isn't easy. Today I just got back from the hospital from Tylenol overdose. Luckily, I didn't take enough for any permanant damage to be done to my livers. It was just a moment I had, it doesn't define who I am. We're humans and we all make mistakes. But there are things you can do to prevent this from happening. Because trust me, it is not fun and it's something i'm never going to do again. So please read these tips if you have Depression or are going through some tough times.

//&.// Try not to isolate yourself
When you’re depressed, you may not feel like seeing anybody or doing anything. Just getting out of bed in the morning can be difficult, but isolating yourself only makes depression worse. Make it a point to stay social, even if that’s the last thing you want to do. As you get out into the world, you may find yourself feeling better.

//&.// Keep your body healthy
Making healthy lifestyle choices can do wonders for your mood. Things like diet and exercise have been shown to help depression. Ever heard of a "runners high"? You actually get a rush of endorphins from exercising, which makes you feel instantly happier.

//&.// Avoid alcohol and drugs
You may be tempted to drink or use drugs in an effort to escape from your feelings and get a "mood boost", even if just for a short time. However, substance use can not only make depression worse, but can cause you to become depressed in the first place. Alcohol and drug use can also increase suicidal feelings.

//&.// Ask for help if you’re stressed
Stress and worry can take a big toll, even leading to depression. Talk to a teacher or school counselor if exams or classes seem overwhelming. Likewise, if you have a health concern you feel you can’t talk to your parents about—such as a pregnancy scare or drug problem—seek medical attention at a clinic or see a doctor.

//&.// If you’re afraid you can’t control yourself, make sure you are never alone. Even if you can’t verbalize your feelings, just stay in public places, hang out with friends or family members, or go to a movie—anything to keep from being by yourself and in danger.

//&.// If your feelings are uncontrollable, tell yourself to wait 24 hours before you take any action. This can give you time to really think things through and give yourself some distance from the strong emotions that are plaguing you. During this 24-hour period, try to talk to someone—anyone—as long as they are not another suicidal or depressed person.

Things I do that help me with my Depression;
~ Art. I like to paint and draw a lot. Just anything really. It helps me relax and get a hold of my emotions.
~ Writing. I like to write stories that somehow relate to my life. Because sometimes I find it hard to tell other people what i'm going through I like to type or write it so I can express myself. If you're interested Wattpad is a great website for writers. I have a Wreck This Journal and I love it so much. You can do so many creative things on it.
~ Chat rooms. Sometimes I go on websites like Omegle or Depression chat rooms because I find it easier to open up to people that i've never met before. And sometimes people can give really good advice(:
~ Taking pictures. Usually when I get home from school I go on walks and take pictures of things around me and edit them. It's a really fun hobby and you should defiantly try it.
~ Star watching. On most nights when i'm feeling sad I like to go up on my roof, lay down and look at the stars. If you don't have a flat roof going outside and laying on the lawn is the same.
Those are just SOME suggestions. There are also many other things you can do to help you cope with Depression. Just find something that makes you happy(:

BEING MORE CONFIDENT

8 days ago - 535 views
BEING MORE CONFIDENT
Hey guys (:

I'm absolutely not confident with myself but I'm trying to be and I have some tips on being more confident.

O1. Love yourself;;
It's as easy as that. Gilchrist urges, confidence comes from within -- loving yourself will give your personality the wow factor. Okay, so don't be overly confident and love yourself so much that you become a narcissist. Keep it to a healthy minimum. "Know that you are worthy, special and one of a kind," she concludes.

O2. Let Go;;
"After all this is said and done, let go and trust life's process," Appel advises. "Life is what is happening while you are making other plans. Things will never unfold exactly as you intend, so be willing to be flexible and adapt to changes and circumstances as they come about." Your ability to go with the flow and be comfortable with changes will give you more confidence, too.

O3. Calm Yourself;;
UCLA psychiatrist and New York Times bestselling author Dr. Judith Orloff stresses you should calm down your stress hormones in order to stay confident. "Eliminate or avoid people and situations that induce the stress response in your body, which speeds up your pulse and mimics the feeling of fear, lowering your confidence," she suggests. "These include caffeine, sugar and other stimulants, as well as emotional vampires or people who drain your energy and make you tense to be around, traffic jams and arguments." Keep the negativity out of the way and your positive energy will radiate.

O4. Never Look Down On Yourself;;
"Eliminate negative self-talk," Gilchrist stresses. "Replace with themes such as, 'I am good enough, I am successful, I am loved.' Gilchrist recommends reading Melody Beattie's book, The Language of Letting Go. If you believe in yourself, others will, too.

O5. Stand Tall;;
"Stand straight. Shoulders back. Head up," instructs Pamela Gilchrist, author, speaker and president of Gilchrist Group, an international award-winning business and communications firm. "This immediately increases your presence in any setting." Gilchrist also reminds people not to shuffle or slouch. "Walk and sit with authority. If others think you have it, you do."

O6. Don't Compare Yourself To Others;;
As you focus on the passion in your life -- the things that inspire you and give you happiness -- it's also important to stay focused on you, says Lloyd Princeton, a motivational speaker, business coach and author of Marketing Interior Design. "Do not compare yourself to other people," he adds. "Set the bar for yourself based on your abilities and desires and constantly strive to improve based on that bar."

O7. Find Yourself;;
Knowing who you are and what you stand for can also help give you more confidence. "Identify your unique creative expression," Appel suggests. "Ask yourself, are you working in a job that truly represents what you feel you are here to do in this world?" If not, perhaps it's time to start thinking about how you could move towards your true passions in life, Appel points out.

Hope this helped. <3
